April 2025

The big project is Laz working on installing our new electrical panel. Chilly days, so it is nice for him to be snug under the shrink wrap.

April 12-16 in Prosper for Tristan's birthday!

Thursday April 17th

We took the shrink wrap off!!! Put Bimini pipes back together. Laz tested the electric a bit.

Friday April 18th

Filled water tanks 4oz bleach in each. Could not drain because no cap for the hot water tank. Need to get the cap from Christian.

The anchor well was clogged. Laz back pressure sprayed and cleared it.

Laz changed the plug in the cockpit to a USB, not a cigarette lighter. He also dressed wires below.

We brought the Miele so I could vacuum all the window treatments and the aft cabin and main cabins.

We put the Bimini canvas back on. I noted a rip in the port back zipper where the backstay comes through. Will need to try and fix that.

Traveler re-rigged. After discussion with Garrett, we decided against putting sails up as he will have to take them down in order to snake a wire for the radar.

The great blue herons are all about, probably wondering why so many people are disrupting their peace.

Wednesday April 30th

She's in the water! Came down to Tidewater Marina to work on the cabin lights and other chores.

So nice to see her…in Vela’s former slip. Vela is now in Haven Harbor South, so we moved to her slip. It's a nice wide slip.

Had a nice picnic lunch in the cockpit. Made a caprese salad with mini mozzarella balls, heirloom grape tomatoes, fresh basil EVOO and some balsamic glaze. And salt and pepper. Also a roast beef and cheddar sandwich. Everything tastes better outside.

The port side is a very small space to navigate in. It's under the nav table and it's pretty much a snake out without labeled wires. We carefully sorted what Laz thought were the right wires, and I cut them, so Laz could splice and bypass the area that's not working. We have port overhead and under lighting!

We keep Boji’s gravel under the aft starboard seat. The plastic bag gets weathered, old and is at risk of ripping. I sewed a bag to put the gravel bag in, of an outdoor material we had leftover from the MBR renovation.

We also placed the plastic drainage mats down, secured with zip ties.

Voila! The new case with gravel bag in it, in place over the drainage mat!

I replaced the port side rigging tape and found two large spiders as well as eggs. All gone with fresh tape!

Other chores: air conditioning plugged in, switched from heat to AC and it works, with water coming out the through holes as it's supposed to. No priming required! Turned on the fridge and it seems to be working. Took home the fridge buckets to put in the dishwasher

I looked up while writing this log and this handsome fella came strolling by.

He stood for quite some time with his neck extended. Not sure what that means.

Then he kept strolling on by. A short while afterwards he flew off with another great blue heron. While I was birdwatching, Laz got the starboard side lower light to work. The wiring for the upper starboard light is a bit more mysterious, so will have to wait for another day as we have band practice tonight and need to get going!
