5/26 Memorial Day Monday

No wind, or at least not in a useful direction. Put up the sails to try, but no luck. Motored to BJYY and back into the same slip as before on E dock. Very narrow! Got in OK with some fending. Luckily not much wind. Laz got many chores done, including getting the overhead kitchen lights to work!!! He organized and put away his tools and bits and pieces in the port side V locker and in the new port side under seat space that he made this winter.

John and Kitty Hoffer picked us up and we went to Joss for dinner. Took a nice walk after dinner.

5/27 Tuesday

Up by 0730 as Nate was due to service the generator and switch out the charger. Went to the local cafe for breakfast. Lovely bacon egg and cheese in English muffins and split a hash brown patty. They have good coffee but I had already made my own. Will have to remember for next time.

Laz had some computer work to do in re: the Ward Trust, so I filled both water tanks (forward was nearly empty and aft was at 60%) and cleaned the table in the cockpit with teak cleaner and then later applied teak oil. It was thirsty! Looks nice, and I'm happier knowing it's cleaned.

Matt came at around 9:30 and changed the oil in the generator and did whatever else it needed. He then changed the 50A charger for the start battery and the generator to a 30A and lo and behold no more interference on VHF 16! We wanted to test the generator but could not figure out why there was no power. Turns out the battery switch we thought was combined is actually the generator. Complex system where the starter AGM gets recharged by the lithium and some kind of diode thing makes it all happy. Once we figured that out, generator had power and worked fine. Last thing to troubleshoot is the refrigerator water cooling pump. Turns out the pump is dead. Had to pull up the floor so Matt could change it out, which meant emptying the table, unscrewing and moving it. Matt finished around noon and we had everything back in place and off the docks by 12:30. There was rain predicted by 2 or so, which previously had not been in the forecast. Sure enough we got some rain, and put our foulies on (with wool underlayer for me). We also got wind 10-15kts from due S, so we put up the main and got an extra knot of speed. Great because the tide was running against us by 2 kts. Wind shifted to SE by Poole's Island, so we jibed. Decided to go all the way back to HdG as the weather forecast for tomorrow got colder and windier and still with rain. Wind softened around 6p, we were going 6+ kts with the mainsail up, so I made dinner while were passing the mouth of the Sassafras. Homemade sauce with bowties and penne mixed and garlic bread. Made it back into dock by 8pm. Hot cocoa and hot tea after we cocooned below. Temp of 61° as we came below. And to think I was in tank top and shorts this morning!

Wednesday May 28th

Rained all night. Woke up at 0730 and went back to bed. Finally up by 9:45 and organized a bit to take home for laundry and to swap out for galley etc. made corned beef hash and an egg 😊 for breakfast. With coffee for both of us.

Thursday May 29th

Brought down Boji and her engine and a bunch of galley provisions.

Pumped up Boji and secured gravel bag with line. Glued letters on. Checked the electric motor

Oiled the goose neck on the boom and the vang

Changed bow thruster and windlass fuse..old one was melted but still read functional as per resistance.

Laz organized his tools and electrical equipment.

Home for dinner and to pack up clothes. up til 1am organizing

Friday May 30th

Late morning finished Mirror & Light. Packed up cold provisions, went to Giant for more then to baji-naji.

Clothes, guitars and cold provisions to baji-naji everything fit! Laz doing GG estate stuff

Made a panel blocker for the cabinet under the closet.

Lunch aboard...roll ups

Fire on a bus on the way home on Route 1 near West Grove. Apparently a tour bus full of middle school students blew a tire which started the fire. Everyone seemed safely off, with emergency vehicles on the way so we cautiously drove past. Diesel fuel not gasoline, thank goodness. No risk of explosion!
